中村左洲とは（経歴）

中村左洲

「鯛の左洲」として知られるくらい鯛を描かせたら日本一と言われた画家。
三重県伊勢市二見町出身。漁業に従事するかたわら、四条派の画家・磯部百鱗について絵を学び、大正6年(1917)の文展に《群がれる鯛》が入選。岐阜絵画展一等賞受賞。文展入選など、多くの展覧会に出品し賞を取る。巽画会会員。 尚皇族に「二見浦の図」 「内宮の図」 「鯛蛤の図」「松上鶴の図」「海老の図」 「鯛の図」 「内宮の春景」 「外宮の秋色」「菊の図」 「五十川春景の図」「二見浦の図」 等を献上する。80歳で亡くなるまで、終生、郷土の二見で活躍した。

Known as “Sasu the Sea Bream,” he was said to be the best painter of sea breams in Japan.
Born in Futami-cho, Ise City, Mie Prefecture. While working in the fishing industry, he studied painting under Isobe Hyakurin, a painter of the Shijo School, and his painting “Gathering Bream” was selected for the Bunten exhibition in 1917. He won the first prize at the Gifu Painting Exhibition. He was selected for the Bunten exhibition, and participated in many other exhibitions and won awards. Member of the Tatsumi Art Association. Until his death at the age of 80, he was active in his hometown of Futami throughout his life.
